GREENFIELD — Three Franklin County convenience stores have recently proven to be lucky locations for those hoping to win big on a scratch ticket.
Greenfield resident Keith Poirier won a $1 million prize on a Massachusetts State Lottery “$5,000,000 100X Cashword” scratch ticket, which he purchased at the Sandri gas station at 295 Federal St. in Greenfield. According to the Massachusetts State Lottery, Poirier chose the cash option for his prize, a one-time payment of $650,000 before taxes, which he hopes to save for his retirement.
When reached by phone on Monday, Poirier said he felt “happy” and “fortunate” for the win, but declined to comment further.
Another winning ticket, purchased at Cumberland Farms at 10 Montague City Road in Turners Falls, was claimed by Open Door Trust of Boston, represented by Renat Lumpau. According to the Massachusetts State Lottery, the trust claimed the first $25 million grand prize in the “$25,000,000 Mega Money” scratch ticket game and opted to receive the prize in the form of a one-time payment of $16.25 million before taxes.
The Turners Falls Cumberland Farms will receive a $50,000 bonus for its sale of the “$25,000,000 Mega Money” ticket and the Greenfield Sandri will receive $10,000 for its sale of the “$5,000,000 100X Cashword” ticket.
Another winner collected a $100,000 prize from a “Mass Cash” ticket purchased at Happy Trails Wine Liquor and Convenience in Shelburne Falls.
