Why are Massachusetts electric rates so high compared to other states? Please, look at what you pay per kilowatt hour. Take the total cost of your electric bill and divide it by the number of kilowatt hours used that month. You will probably find it cost around 32 cents per kwh. I called my brother in Pennsylvania and a friend in New Hampshire, and they pay around 23 cents per kwh. Why are Mass rates so high?
