Mohawk’s Trail Regional’s Addie Loomis outlasted Westfield’s Alenna Shapleigh in the Slalom at PVIAC race No. 6 at Berkshire East Mountain Resort on Thursday in Charlemont.
Loomis finished the race in brisk, windy conditions in 43.88. Shapleigh placed second (44.91) behind Loomis for the Bombers. Brooke Koshinsky was the next finisher for the Warriors in seventh place (48.56). Grace Sisum placed 10th (50.20) for Mohawk.
Mohawk captured the North League team victory with a combined time of 199.53. Minnechaug was second (212.54).
Racing the Giant Slalom, Mohawk had four finishers in the top 10. Gunner Triggs was third overall (32.34) for the Warriors. Liam Zarotny (32.75) and Ben Zarotny (33.40) were fourth and fifth, respectively.
Xerxes Law placed sixth (33.93) for the Warriors. Kashton Ryan of Longmeadow placed first overall (31.14) once again for the Lancers. Mohawk brought home the league victory with a combined time of 132.42. Longmeadow was second (137.26).
Girls basketball
Frontier 53, Wahconah 39 โ After the home win over the Warriors, the Redhawks are now one win away from a Suburban league championship. A victory over Pope Francis on Monday would clinch it for Frontier.
Addie Harrington scored 15 points with 10 rebounds, five assists, five steals and five blocks for the Redhawks (13-2, 8-0). Harper Modestow (eight rebounds, five steals) and Skyler Steele both added 13 points.
A couple 3-pointers by Rowan Reilly helped put away the Warriors in the fourth quarter.
Athol 43, Turners Falls 31 โ Abigayle Spooner scored 13 points for the Bears in the Tri-County North win over the Thunder at Mallet Gymnasium. Maliah Clark added 11 points for Athol (4-10, 3-4).
Autumn DiMare led the way for Turners Falls with 12 points on four 3-pointers. Jojo Hayman and Autumn Thornton each added seven points for the Thunder (0-15, 0-6).
Boys basketball
Hopkins Academy 59, Mahar 41 โ The Senators couldn’t hang with the Golden Hawks in a Hampshire North loss in Hadley. Kayden McGivern scored 16 points for Mahar (3-11, 3-6). Max Kimball reached double-figures with 10 points for the Senators.
Calvary Chapel Academy 59, Turners Falls 39 โ The Thunder lost in an independent match up on the road. Jackson Cogswell scored nine points for Turners Falls (3-11).
Baystate Academy 63, Mohawk 35 โ Braydn Marcoux scored 13 points in the road loss for the Warriors (1-14). Owen Pfister-Hill and Malcolm Briggs both added six points for Mohawk.

Nordic Skiing
Augustus Niswonger placed second overall (22:02) for Mohawk Trail Regional at a MIAA Berkshire League race at Mount Greylock. Niswonger came in behind Wahconah’s Beau Sanders (21:56).
Adam Muller was the next individual finisher for the Warriors in fifth place (22:14). Luke Picard placed 11th (24:18) for Mohawk. Wahconah (27) and Mount Greylock (42) were first and second, respectively, in the team standings. Mohawk placed third (42).
On the girls side, Mohawk had three athletes in the top 10. Ada Comer was third overall (26:54), with teammate Charlotte Niswonger coming in fourth (27:45). Claire Pickard was eighth (29:20) for the Warriors. Mount Greylock topped the team standings with 14 points. Mohawk was second with 28.
