TURNERS FALLS — The Disney musical “Frozen Jr.'” is returning to JaDuke Theater this weekend with four performances from Friday, Jan. 23, through Sunday, Jan. 25.
The performances will be at 6 p.m. on Friday, 2 p.m. and 6 p.m. on Saturday, and 2 p.m. on Sunday. This musical was last performed at JaDuke in 2019.
“In hindsight, it feels like fate that ‘Frozen Jr.’ found its way to the JaDuke stage seven years ago, right before everything paused,” JaDuke Theater owner and President Kim Williams said in a statement. “The story’s message carried us forward, even when the world stood still.”
This junior version of the musical is based on the 2018 Broadway performances of “Frozen.” The story follows sisters Anna and Elsa as Elsa discovers her secret, icy powers that bring winter to the kingdom of Arendelle. Notably, adult Anna and Elsa are played by two sisters in JaDuke Theater’s production.
Anna connects with Olaf the snowman and the duo of Kristoff and his reindeer, Sven, as she seeks to save Elsa and bring summer back to Arendelle. The show features the iconic songs of “Let it Go,” “Do You Want To Build A Snowman?” and more.
“‘Frozen Jr.’ reminded us that freedom looks like kids having fun — singing at the top of their lungs, pretending, performing and discovering who they are,” JaDuke Theater co-owner and Vice President Nick Waynelovich said in a statement. “At JaDuke, that freedom shows up in real life as confidence, creativity and community — kids walking out of the theater a little taller than when they walked in.”
JaDuke Theater is located at 110 Industrial Boulevard in Turners Falls. Tickets are available at jaduketheater.com or at the box office.
