Luke Howard placed first overall in the 2-mile for the Frontier Regional boys indoor track and field team in a 54-29 win over Hampshire Regional in Valley North action on Sunday at Smith College in Northampton.

Howard’s time (nine minutes, 55.85 seconds) was a personal record. Howard blazed past the competition, finishing about 51 seconds ahead of the second-place finisher.

Howard also placed third overall in the 1000-meter (2:48.99) for Frontier.

Ezra Rich set a personal record for the Redhawks in the shot put, as well. Rich’s throw (42-11.25) was good for first place overall.

Adrien Pazmandy scored points and placed fifth overall (6.93) in the 55-meter dash for the Redhawks. Pazmandy also took fourth overall (37.74) in the 300. Kai Fripp also secured points with a sixth place finish (1:37.72) in the 600.

Pioneer 10, No opponent โ€” Carter Berthiaume set a personal record in the high jump for the Panthers. Berthiaume cleared six feet, two inches. Second place was four inches shorter at Smith College. Berthiaume’s current best is tied for the program record at Pioneer.

Pope Francis 77, Mahar 12 โ€” The Senators couldn’t stay with the Cardinals in Valley North competition. Danny Quigley scored points for the Senators in the 300, finishing sixth overall (38.23). Michael LaPlante also scored in the 600, placing ninth overall (1:40.63) for Mahar.

South Hadley 63, Mohawk 30; Mohawk 49, Southwick 9 โ€” The Warriors split a pair of meets in Valley North play. Tanner Biagini placed first overall (37.53) in the 300 for the Warriors. Biagini grabbed more points in both meets, finishing seventh overall (6.98) in the 55-meter run.

Peter Healy took second overall (10:46.31) in the 2-mile for Mohawk. Rex Kupppala placed eighth overall (2:57.22) in the 1000-meter. Kuoppala set a personal record in the mile, finishing sixth overall (4:58.64).

Greenfield 52, Athol 18 โ€” The Green Wave ran past the Bears in Valley South competition.

Alex Scotera placed second overall (1:34.51) in the 600. Ryan Spofford placed second (2:49.91) in the 1,000. Spofford’s run was a personal record. Dylan Breiwick’s sixth place finish (4:59.73) in the mile was also good for a personal record. Scotera was fourth (11:42.38) in the 2-mile.

Elijah Etienne placed 19th overall (29-06.75) in the shot put.

Girls results

Greenfield 67, Athol 16 โ€” The Green Wave were too much for the Bears in Valley South competition. Kyra Tamsin placed fourth overall (1:55.84) in the 600. Tamsin secured a personal recorded in the 55-hurdles, placing third overall (10.41) for the Wave. Lauren Helie set a personal record in the 1,000, placing fifth overall (3:47.83). Suhani Patel impressed in the high jump, finishing third overall (4-4).

Emily Abram was 13th overall (21-7) in the shotput for the Bears.

Pioneer 57, Baystate Academy 6 โ€” Harper Hake set a personal record in the mile on her way to a first place finish in the Panthers win over Baystate in Valley South play. Hake’s time (5:56.50) was 13 seconds better than second place Parker Cullen of Longmeadow (6:09.52). The run also set a new program record.

Hake also set another school record (3:28) at the Northeast Invitational on Saturday in Roxbury in the 1,000. Amy VanDoren set a personal record in the 600 on her way to a 15th place finish (2:12.35). Addy Chapin took her first shot at the long jump and grabbed a 15th place finish (13-1) for the Panthers.

Frontier 60, Hampshire Regional 35 โ€” The Redhawks handled the Raiders in Valley North play. Louise Flagollet’s first place finish (43.91) in the 300 highlighted the victory.

Louise Flagollet also took fourth (4-10) in the high jump and third in the long jump (14-8.75, PR). Emmanuelle Flagollet set a personal record in the 55-hurdles, placing second overall (9.41) Liv Christensen scored and placed fourth (13:41.64) in the 2-mile.

Pope Francis 52, Mahar 29 โ€” Stellina Moore was second overall (15-2) in the long jump, but the Senators lost to the Cardinals in Valley North play. Moore’s jump was good for a personal record. Moore added a third place finish (9.75, PR) in the 55-hurdles and another third place finish in the high jump (4-10).

Madilyn Moore scored points and placed seventh overall (25-6.50) in the shot put.

South Hadley 67, Mohawk 28; Mohawk 53, Southwick 29 โ€” Virginia Krezmien placed fourth overall (5:56.78) in the mile, as the Warriors split a pair of meets in Valley North play.

Heidi Helenek set a personal record in the 300 for the Warriors, placing 10th overall (47.58). Naomi den Ouden grabbed a sixth place finish (3:42.44) in the 1,000, securing points against the Rams.
