South Deerfield, MA – Winifred “Winnie” Wong, 86, of 78 Whately Road passed away peacefully on Saturday, December 27th.
Winnie was born in Northampton on January 19th, daughter of Chung and Lou Shee Wong. She is survived by her brother Jim (Lucy) Wong, her sister Helen Wong, sister-in-law Ping Wong and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents, her brothers, Thomas, Edward, William, Frank, Walter and Alfred and her sisters, Blanche Woo and Violet Partridge.
She dedicated her professional life to her work as part of the administration staff at the Clarke School for the Deaf for 40+ years and a bakery assistant at Walt’s Bakery.
Winnie cherished time spent with her family, delighting in gatherings and approaching every meal with a boundless appetite and a love for trying all kinds of food.
She embraced an active lifestyle, enjoying fitness classes with friends at the South Deerfield Senior Center and the Greenfield YMCA well into her mid 80’s. Winnie also found happiness spending time outdoors biking, cross-country skiing, and tending to her garden.
Burial at Green River Cemetery will occur at a later date. McCarthy Funeral Homes entrusted with Winifred’s care and arrangements.
