Colrain, MA – Scott David Nims, age 54 of Holyoke, MA, unexpectedly passed away in his sleep on Wednesday, December 17th.
Scott was born in Northampton, MA to David and the late Janet Lilly Nims on July 6, 1971. He was their fourth of five children. Scott grew up in Colrain and attended Mohawk Trail Regional High School, graduating in 1989. While growing up, Scott was very involved with 4-H, showing his herd of sheep at fairs across the state and creating lifelong friendships. In 1993 he received his Bachelor’s in Animal Science from UMass Amherst and a Master’s in Biotechnology from Worcester State University. Scott worked in the biotech research field, later switching careers and became a Clinical Research Associate where he worked at various companies. He traveled most of the week for site visits at doctors’ offices, collecting data from drugs trials to support future medications. He lived in San Diego, CA and Boston, MA for some years before returning to western Massachusetts.
Scott spent much of his spare time helping at the family home in Colrain, visiting friends around the northeast, and traveling. His greatest joy was spending time with his nieces and nephews as the fun uncle. They all enjoyed laughs together, whether he was making a stack of pancakes on Sunday mornings, taking them to the Gaines Farm corn maze, decorating Papa’s house for Christmas, or giving them bubbles and sparklers on family vacations at Spofford Lake, NH.
Scott is survived by his father, David Nims of Colrain, MA, and his four sisters and their families; Pam, JR, Jake and Lilly Jacobson of Averill Park, NY, Robin, Rick, Bryan and Cody Reynolds of Colrain, MA, Amy, Greg, Nate and Mia Lindahl of Florence, MA, and Wendy Nims and Rich Wall of Narragansett, RI. He is also survived by aunts Joan Rickard, Maggie Lilly and Diane Lilly, as well as many cousins and countless number of friends. He will be missed by all.
