Turners Falls, MA – Doris Lippe Cournoyer, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family days after her 85th birthday on December 16, 2025. Doris was born on 12/12/1940 to Lionel and Germaine Lippe in Southbridge, MA. She was a proud graduate of Notre Dame High School in Southbridge, Class of 1959, and later attended the New England School of Accounting, which would lay the foundation for her career as a bookkeeper.
In 1962, Doris married her childhood sweetheart, Paul Cournoyer, whom she had met in the 6th grade. Together, they built a life full of love and devotion in Turners Falls, MA, where they raised a family and created lasting memories. Doris was a dedicated mother and grandmother to their four children and their kids, Deb & Tim Rosa and their kids, Ashley, Brittany, Cameron, and Kylee of Ellington CT, Marc & Fran Cournoyer and their kids Sarah and Daniel of Holden MA, Robin & Peter Moore and their kids Katelyn, Ian, and Megan of Pittsfield MA, and Kim and Erik Sulda and their kids, Christopher, Nicholas and Mathew of Hatfield MA. along with her 11 great grandchildren. Doris is also survived by her siblings Donald Lippe, Paulette Lippe Theodoss and Dennis Lippe, all of whom she adored.
Doris was known for her many talents and passions. She loved spending time with family, often preparing her famous meatballs, a dish that became a symbol of her love for everyone she cared about. She also enjoyed making puzzles, reading, bingo, trips to the casino, and crocheting, a hobby that she shared with others through her volunteer work. Doris donated her beautiful crocheted blankets to Our Lady of Peace, a cause close to her heart.
Doris worked as a bookkeeper with Franklin Community Action Corp for many years, retiring in 2004 after a long and successful career. Throughout her life she remained deeply committed to her family, always setting an example of putting family first. She attended countless sporting events, graduations and special moments in the lives of her grandchildren, showing unwavering support and love for each one.
Doris’s presence was felt in every corner of her family’s lives and her legacy of love, warmth, and selflessness will never be forgotten. She will be dearly missed by all who knew her, especially by her husband of 63 years, Paul, and their children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held Monday 12/22 at 11am at the Kostanski Funeral Home, 1 Kostanski Square, Turners Falls. Burial will be held at the convenience of the family.
A calling hour will be held Monday morning from 10am until the time of the service at the funeral home.
