Elinor Farr

Greenfield, MA – Elinor Honer Farr died on Friday, December 12, 2025 at home.

She was born October 11, 1929, in Jackson, MI with a twin sister Barbara Joann to Mathilda Bertrams and William A. Honer of Jackson, MI

She attended Jackson High School class of 1947 followed by Milwaukee-Downer College in Milwaukee Wisconsin, the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor where she joined Tri Delta sorority. She then attended Katherine Gibbs Secretarial School in Boston where she met her husband, Norman, who was attending Tufts Dental School. He had been a Marine and served in the South Pacific for two years.

They were married in Jackson, Michigan in 1952 and moved to Groton, MA where Norman (Bud) assisted with Dr. J. W. Desmond in a large dental practice. They moved to Greenfield in 1955 where Norman assumed the dental practice of Dr. L. Roy Johnston.

Norman was active in the Country Club of Greenfield and served as their President for two years. They were active members of St. James Episcopal Church where he was Junior Warden and she served on the Alter Guild for 50 years. She was also active on the Senior Board of Organized work, volunteering at Franklin County Public Hospital Gift Shop and the Society for the Protection and Care of Children (Junior SPCC) Thrift Shop on Chapman Street in Greenfield.

They bought a chalet at Stratton Mountain, VT and enjoyed skiing and golfing there for several years – from 1975-1983.

They became Florida residents and moved to Shipwatch in Largo, FL in the early 1990s, and then to Tarpon Springs Florida where they had a house at Crescent Oaks Country Club on the fifth hole, fulfilling one of Bud’s dreams.

Elinor leaves her children Linda Russell (Ken), Susan Gibson (Mark) of Greenfield and Douglas H. Farr of Marlboro MA. Their grandchildren: Jason Vivier (Elizabeth), of Goodlettsville, TN, Jennifer Coffin (Jonathan) and Scott Russell (Brianna) both of Bernardston, MA. Jeffrey Gibson (Lori) of Burlington, MA , Katie Gibson of Greenfield. Great-grandchildren Ella Vivier, William Vivier, Ryan Pulizari, Layla Coffin, Harper Coffin, Forrest Russell, Daisy Russell and Kahlan Scappace and three nieces and five nephews.

Elinor was predeceased by her husband, Bud, of 62 years, her granddaughter Sara A. Gibson,

brother Robert B. Honer, twin sister Barbara J. Rasmussen and granddaughter-in-law Noel P. Russell.

Interment will be private. There will be no public services. Smith-Kelleher Funeral Home of Greenfield, MA will be entrusted with her care.
