The Frontier girls indoor track and field team began its PVIAC schedule with a 62-29 win over Pope Francis in Valley North competition on Sunday at Smith College.
Emmanuelle Flagollet highlighted the victory with a top overall finish in the 55-meter hurdles (9.50 seconds). Louise Flagollett took down some points and placed second in the 300-meter run (43.75) for Frontier. Sanai Thompson of East Longmeadow placed first overall (42.84) in the event.
In the field events, Emmanuelle Flagollet added an eighth-place finish in the long jump (13 feet, 9.50 inches). Liv Christensen scored points for the Redhawks in the 2-mile run (13:42.68), finishing fourth in the overall field.
Phoebe Radner notched a fifth-place (1:53.01) overall finish and secured points against the Cardinals in the 600-meter run. Paisley Severance also scored points for the Redhawks in the mile, finishing 13th (6:35.11) in the overall field.
In other field events, Gemma Parsons scored points and finished (24-6) sixth overall in the shot put. Maia Christensen and Louise Flagollet tied for sixth in the high jump (4-8.0) for the Redhawks.
Maddie Antes, Radner, Emmanuelle Flagollet and Louise Flagollet finished second overall (1:56.93) in the 4×200 relay.
Boys results
Pope Francis 56, Frontier 37 โ The Redhawks opened their schedule with a Valley North loss to the Cardinals. Adrien Pazmandy finished second overall (37.36) in the 300.
Luke Howard scored points and finished fourth (10:08.41) in the 2-mile for the Redhawks. Howard also placed second overall (2:45.30) in the 1000-meter run. Hengxi Yue notched some points and placed 10th overall (5:24.24) in the mile.
In the field events, Ezra Rich finished fifth overall (40-0.5).
Pope Francis 73, Mahar, 14 โ Caleb Wandrei placed 16th overall in the 2-mile run for the Senators in the Valley North loss to the Cardinals. Michael LaPlante finished 19th (1:42.58) in the 600 for Mahar.
Athol 45, Baystate Academy 3 โ The Bears secured a Valley South win over Baystate, highlighted by Elijah Etienne’s seventh place (33-9.75) overall finish in the shot put.
Enyert Arias-Cepeda scored points and finished 26th overall (7.63) in the 55-meter run. Jeffrey McCorquodale placed overall 20th (7:05.90) in the mile for the Bears.
Arias-Cepeda also took down ninth overall (41.01) in the 300.
Mohawk individuals
The team score for Mohawk was unavailable. Peter Healy placed seventh (10:50.05) in the 2-mile for the Warriors. Teammate Rex Kuoppala finished sixth (5:09.89) in the mile for Mohawk.
Greenfield 73, Commerce 19 โ Mason Youmell placed first overall (1:31.69) in the 600-meter in Greenfield’s Valley South win over Commerce. Youmell added second place finishes (8.50) in the 55-hurdles and the long jump (18-6.75).
Alex Scotera placed fourth overall (11:21.31) in the 2-mile. Dylan Breiwick impressed in the distance events, finishing third overall (5:07.02) in the mile. Breiwick also placed fourth (2:59.22) in 1000-meter. Kymel Ramsey took sixth (6.94) in the 55-meter run for the Wave.
Zach Ozdarski took down sixth overall (33-10) in the shot put for the Wave. Javion Williams was third (5-8) in the high jump.
Pioneer 22 Hampden Charter 17 โ Carter Berthiaume secured points and a 28th overall finish (7.67) in the 55-meter in the Panthers’ Valley South win. Berthiaume also notched a 10th place overall finish (41.95) in the 300-meter.
Berthiaume’s performance was a personal record in the 55-meter event. Lorenzo Bordas’ time (46.94) in the 300-meter run was also a personal best.
Girls results
Mahar 42, Mohawk 35 โ Stellina Moore carried the day for the Senators in a win over the Warriors in Valley North play. Moore took down fourth overall (9.96) in the 55-hurdles. Moore added a fifth place finish (14-5) in the long jump.
Madilyn Moore scored points and placed fourth overall (25-9.75)in the shot put for the Senators.
Virginia Krezmien of Mohawk impressed in the 1000-meter run, placing sixth overall (3:37.76). Krezmien also placed third overall (6:05.28) in the mile.
Athol 46, Baystate 11 โ Piper Bailey’s seventh place finish (4-2.0) in the high jump highligted the Bears’ win over Baystate.
Bailey also took down points and a 17th place finish (12-4.5) in the long jump for the Bears. Emily Abram also scored points and placed 18th overall (21-6.75) in the shot put.
Greenfield 65, No opponent โ Bella Mitchell placed first overall (3:36.93) in the 1000-meter for the Green Wave.
Lillianna Badillo was seventh (17:39.53) in 2-mile.
Kyra Tamsin impressed in the 600-meter, placing second (1:58.62) overall. Tamsin also placed eighth (11.16) in the 55-hurdles and seventh (49.03) in the 300-meter for the Wave.
Holly Babineau placed 10th (13-4.25) in the long jump for Greenfield.
Pioneer 51, Hampden Charter 27 โ Harper Hake set a new school record in the mile for the Panthers in the win over Hampden Charter. Hake took down third overall (6:09.74) in distance event for Pioneer.
Hake also placed third overall (15:00.86) in the 2-mile and fifth (3:55.47) in the 1000-meter.
Amy DanDoren placed seventh (6:41.80) in the mile for Pioneer. Addison Chapin scored points and finished 13th overall (8.52) in the 55-meter for the Panthers. In the field events, Chapin was eighth (4-2.0) in the high jump.
