GREENFIELD — FBI agents searched a home at 68 Congress St. on Wednesday morning, investigating a car parked behind the three-family home and searching one of the upper floors, according to neighbors and local police.

It is unclear at this time why FBI agents were investigating the home, though Kristen Setera, a spokesperson for the FBI’s Boston office, said that the agency was “conducting court-authorized activity in the area.” Setera declined to comment further on Wednesday.

Greenfield Police Chief Todd Dodge confirmed Wednesday that local police were dispatched to the area to assist with the federal investigation, adding that he could not provide any additional information.

A neighbor who lives on the street told a Recorder reporter that she saw multiple unmarked police cars surrounding the house, with law enforcement searching the upper-floor apartment, bringing out “pillow case-sized evidence bags.”
