Diane M. Muszynski

Greenfield, MA – Diane M. (Sowul) Muszynski, 71, passed away Sunday November 30, 2025, at Care One in Northampton. She was born in Gramadczyzna, Poland on January 19, 1954, the daughter of Bronislaw and Blanche (Wilczewski) Sowul.

She attended Greenfield public schools graduating in 1973 from Greenfield High School. She later graduated from Greenfield Community College with an Associate’s degree in Legal Secretarial Science. She worked several jobs in the area but will be most recognized as the lady behind the deli counter. Diane worked 30+ years between Stop & Shop and Waldbaum’s Food Mart in Greenfield, retiring in 2019. She loved getting to know all her customers over the years

Diane arrived in the US in 1961 but never left Poland behind in her heart. She remained interested in the language, traditions, and folklore of her homeland. She especially appreciated traditional Polish art and song, and many have been surprised to find themselves somehow in the middle of singing a Polish song with Diane before they even realized it was happening. She valued time spent with family and friends most of all and needed little more than this and a cup of coffee to be perfectly content.

She is survived by her husband Tony of 44 years, who also resides at CareOne Northampton. Her son, AJ, his partner Melanie, and grandsons, Jozef and Samuel who live in Leverett, MA.

A Liturgy of Christian Burial will be held at Blessed Trinity Parish/Blessed Sacrament Church at 10 AM on Wednesday December 10, 2025. Burial will follow at Mater Dolorosa Cemetery. A calling hour will be from 8:30-9:30 AM at Kostanski Funeral Home 220 Federal St. Greenfield.
