Why in the world is the Massachusetts Department of Education completely ignoring the will of the people to discontinue the MCAS testing? Not to mention ignoring the results of listening sessions held around the state that encouraged participants to suggest a “portrait of a graduate” profile.

After all is said and done, the DOE wants to bring back the MCAS with a new name. This type of testing has not served our students well in the past and there is no reason to think that it will be any better the second time around. I find the department’s behavior odious and completely disrespectful of their own process. Let’s enlist our legislators to make it clear to the DOE that high stakes tests created by DESE and scored by DESE as graduation requirements is not what people are asking for.
