Days three and four of the Massachusetts Shotgun Deer Hunting season brought another impressive kill count for local check in stations on Wednesday and Thursday.

Some highlights from day three include Justin Slysz of Shelburne Falls checking in a 172-pound, eight-point buck at Sunderland Hatchery.

At Bitzer, Ashley Guerin of Erving bagged a 160-pound, nine-point buck. At Gould’s Sugarhouse, Gary Hicks of Florence checked in a 174-pound, 12-point buck. Andrew White of Vernon, Vt. checked in the largest hunt in Franklin County with a 193-pound, eight-point buck. White added a 145 -pound doe on the same day.

The Orange Gun Rod and Gun Club submitted their checks from the first four days on Thursday. Joe Powling of Dracut bagged a 179-pound, eight-point buck to highlight day two. John Ollari of Colrain checked in a 170 pounder with eight points, also on day two. Robert Livingston of Orange checked in a 162 pound, eight-point buck. William Cantrell of Athol checked in a 168-pound, 10-point buck.

Scores for the week ending Nov. 28:

In Sunday Scotch Doubles, Nick Brown and Robby Wood rolled a 118 in high single while Scott Schneider and Kendall Schneider scored a 314 in high triple.

In Monday’s Mixed League, Tera Tippett rolled a 104 in high single while Missy Finn bowled a 266 in high triple. For the men, Chris LaFreniere rolled a 124 in high single while Kyle Leger carded a 337 in high triple.

In Tuesday Mixed League action, Mindy Goodin rolled a 100 in high single and a 252 in high triple. Anthony Gutierrez scored a 111 in high single and a 273 in high triple.

Basketball

The Greenfield Elks Hoop Shoot will be held at Franklin County Tech on Saturday, Dec. 13, at 9:30 a.m. The event is for boys and girls age 8-13. Age as of April 1, 2026.
