NORTHFIELD — A collision between a Ford Explorer and a tractor on Route 10 sent a man flying off the tractor and led him to sustain what Northfield Police Officer Curtis Weaver described as “apparent minor injuries.”

Northfield Police and Fire departments closed off a portion of Route 10 near Gill Center Road for roughly an hour on Monday afternoon while Gill Police Sgt. Jason Bassett directed traffic and Northfield firefighters removed a portion of the guard rail from the side of Route 10 to disentangle the tractor.

According to Northfield Fire Chief Floyd “Skip” Dunnell III, a man was driving a tractor at a slow speed on Route 10 at approximately 3:45 p.m. when a Ford Explorer rear-ended him, throwing the driver from his tractor. Dunnell said Northfield EMS transported the tractor driver to the hospital.

Weaver said the crash is under a “pending investigation.” The Massachusetts Department of Transportation and Bernardston Police also assisted on scene.
