In response to Doris Bittenbender’s letter concerning defensive voting: There is a method which would eliminate the problems associated with our first-past-the-post system, yet would require no change to current balloting systems. I encourage her — and anyone who is interested in making election results more closely align with voter sentiment — to investigate “approval voting.” There is an excellent entry on Wikipedia.
