Little League ball field suffers from “Sinusitis.”

Our family has lived on Norwood Street since WWII, about 70 years. We have loved the ball field and all the activities that happen there, the many families that come to cheer their children, people exercising their dog, people simply relaxing in the car on their lunch break and much more

Lately, however, we have become dismayed by the way the area has been defaced and its attractiveness destroyed:

First came the horrendous yellow fence topping, for which we fail to see a real purpose. Have kids gotten hurt trying to get over it? It’s too high for most little leaguers. If absolutely necessary, why not make it blend in with the field and make it green?

Next came all the advertising signs along the middle field. Do we really want to blast our kids with MORE commercial messages?

I think many of us are sick of the endless commercialism that is forever destroying the quality of our lives. Does it provide a lot of funding that is so badly needed? And now the first field is plastered with this stuff also. Ugggh

Yesterday, dozens of “No Parking” signs were hammered in the ground. In all the years we have lived here, people have been very respectful and never does anyone park anywhere other than right off the street. These signs were unnecessary and add to the visual pollution that has taken over the field and our street.

We live here and have to see this mess daily. We hope that, over time, the painful “decorations” will disappear and the simple, quiet, attractiveness will return.
