Violent protests are not effective

For me, my faith dictates non-violence, and some might say that is indicative of my white privilege. Perhaps. However, realistically and strategically, violent protests will not promote the students’ cause, no matter how noble it may be.

The reason is simple, the power imbalance is insurmountable. Further, incendiary rhetoric does not further one’s cause. Violent words and actions do not work.

May the students non-violently resist with a peaceful, respectful fact-based manner — stand strong but please stop the violence. If not for moral or faith reasons, do it for strategic reasons. May we all know peace.
